About
The FedeAU is a non-profit association (ASBL) set up in 2020 to support the development of sustainable and solidarity-based urban agriculture in the Brussels-Capital Region. It provides advocacy and support for its fifty members.
The FedeAU is proud of its ongoing contribution to the strong development of sustainable urban agriculture projects in Brussels. We provide advocacy, services and support to almost 500 workers, 15.000 eating households and nearly 85.000 impacted citizens.
Sustainable urban agriculture in Brussels is particularly remarkable. The Region ranked in 2023 2nd among the most dynamic Western cities in this field. In a few numbers, professional and sustainable urban farming in Brussels represents:
-30 hectares of professional production and 15 hectares of animation farms, nurseries and reception areas;
-500 tonnes of food produced in 2022;
-15,000 households fed each year.
Urban agriculture also has a major impact on social cohesion and the well-being of the people of Brussels. Every year, it has a direct impact on almost 185,000 local residents:
