My organisation

The University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland (HES-SO) is the second largest higher education institution in Switzerland. Education and research at HES-SO are oriented towards practical applications in technology development and human sciences. HES-SO has strong involvement in international cooperation and profound experience in European projects. The Institute of Informatics has gained solid experience in the coordination of complex interdisciplinary projects related to digital health and sustainability. In particular, through its eHealth Unit, it has proven experience in EU projects, for instance PERSIST (H2020), on AI-data centric analytics for cancer survivors; or also COMMODITY12 (FP7), with the development of sensor-based mHealth applications for the multi-parametric analysis of diabetes patients. The institute also participates in the SMARTEDGE project (HorizonEurope), for IoT interoperability in different use cases, and the CHIST-ERA project Expectation, focused on Hybrid AI and explainability. HES-SO also participates in the Flagship Innosuisse WISER decarbonisation project on digital GHG assessment, and the SNSF project StreamDKG on Streaming Knowledge Graphs.
