The Bucharest–Ilfov Intercommunity Development Association for Public Transport (TPBI) was established in late 2017 as a metropolitan authority comprising all 42 local public administrations in the Bucharest–Ilfov region. Mandated under EC Regulation 1370/2007, TPBI is responsible for the strategic planning, organization, regulation, monitoring, and management of all public surface transport—encompassing 193 tram, trolleybus, and bus lines—across a territory of 1,821 km², serving over 2.2 million residents. While rail transit (including the metro) remains under the Ministry of Transport, TPBI leads initiatives such as the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan update, the rollout of metropolitan train services, Intelligent Transportation Systems for real-time passenger information, and the Bucharest Traffic Management System.
As former international consultant in public services and mobility, and with 8 years within TPBI ( the regional transport public authority which cover surface public transport management, the SUMP and bicycle strategy coordination, implementing and coordination of Metropolitan train investments and future services), intends to develop the innovative practices and tools in mobility, to create the added value in the institutional chains, to contribute to faster introducing the circular economy and climate change adaptation measures in the sector and adapt policies to green and circularity. Experiences in former international projects and consortiums and also working day-by-day with cities, public institutions and private operators and companies learn me about business models, budget constrains, financing investments.
