The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) is one of the nine professional universities recognised by the Swiss Confederation.
The Department of Environment Constructions and Design moves between higher and continuing education, research and service performances to contribute to local needs and global challenges of institutions and companies. Among its many goals, one is to promote interprofessional and transdisciplinary cultures and practices.
From 2014 to 2022, I worked at ETH Zurich and the NCCR Digital Fabrication, where I led the thermal energy systems for the NEST HiLo project, a full-scale demonstrator showing the impact of digital fabrication in construction.
From 2022 to 2024, I served as an Associate Professor of Integrated Energy Design at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, focusing on research and teaching.
Currently, I am the Head of the Building System Sector at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland.
Building System Sector – Introduction
The Building System Sector is a multidisciplinary research group of 19 researchers dedicated to advancing energy-related innovations for the built environment. Our mission is to enhance the sustainability, efficiency, and resilience of buildings through cutting-edge technological and systemic solutions. The sector is structured into three specialized teams:
BIPV (Building-Integrated Photovoltaics): Focused on integrating solar energy technologies seamlessly into building elements to promote renewable energy generation.
HVAC Systems: Dedicated to developing high-performance heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems that optimize indoor comfort while reducing energy consumption.
Circular Construction: Concentrated on sustainable building practices, emphasizing material reuse, life-cycle thinking, and the reduction of environmental impact.
Together, we aim to shape the future of sustainable construction through innovation, collaboration, and practical impact.
