Extending mobility Infrastructure on urban waterways

Dominic Hahn

Co-founder, CEO at Float mobility

Stuttgart, Germany

About

Water is an integral part of many urban areas and offers great potential for sustainable mobility. Due to a lack of infrastructure and innovation, this potential remains largely untapped.

Our mission as a startup is to connect people by implementing a holistic mobility solution that makes water accessible as a connecting mobility space. Electric, hydrofoiling  watercrafts and docking hubs create a barrier-free transition from land to water and can be integrated as an extension of the existing transport network.

By using electric powered watercrafts combined with hydrofoils, traveling over water becomes 80-90% more efficient compared to using conventional combustion engine powered vessels. We are building small, 3m hydrofoiling water vehicles that can carry up to 250kg of payload and rises out of the water at a speed of under 10km/h. This enables us to utilise urban waterways for efficient and sustainable micromobility.

In light of growing cities worldwide, overburdened infrastructures, and the need for sustainable transport solutions, the development of alternative mobility spaces is becoming increasingly important. Float mobility addresses this gap by extending urban mobility to water.

We are looking for partners, cities and government authorities who are open to innovation and want to explore the potential of water as a mobility space, creating liveable cities of tomorrow.
