Erdem ŞENEL

Environmental Engineer at Menteşe Municipality

Muğla, Türkiye

About

Menteşe Municipality (Turkey) is seeking international partners for the DUT 2025 Call.
Our project E:Park aims to transform urban parks into self-sufficient, smart green hubs that generate their own energy through solar PV, recycle greywater for irrigation, and integrate with a solar-powered e‑bike sharing network.

Key features:

  • Positive Energy Parks: Solar energy, greywater treatment, and rainwater harvesting.

  • Sustainable Mobility: E‑bike network with solar charging stations connecting parks and city center.

  • Digital Monitoring & Citizen Engagement: Real-time dashboards for energy, water and mobility data; workshops and awareness activities for residents.

Expected impacts:

  • First self-sufficient park network in Menteşe.

  • ~15 tons of CO₂ reduction annually through active and e‑mobility.

  • 30% water savings and renewable energy integration.

  • Replicable model for small and medium-sized Mediterranean cities.

Looking for:

  • European cities/municipalities, research institutions, and NGOs experienced in:

    • Sustainable urban mobility

    • Smart city and energy-positive districts

    • Citizen engagement and awareness
