Creation of Mobihubs – A network for smoother and more sustainable mobility
About
The municipality of Forest is actively committed to the transition to more sustainable, inclusive and practical urban mobility. With this in mind, the municipality is participating in the implementation of "Mobihubs" pilot projects. This initiative was developed by the Brussels-Capital Region as part of the Good Move strategy, and more specifically the strengthening of shared mobility services.
A Mobihub is a space where you can easily switch from train to bus, then get on a shared bike, scooter or scooter to cover the last mile. This system promotes intermodality and reduces dependence on the private car, while making daily travel simpler and more pleasant.
The administration has identified 5 places, characterised both by a significant range of mobility services and by shortcomings in terms of the structuring of this offer as well as the accessibility, updating and understanding of the information relating to this offer.
The Region has selected a site on which signage will be installed (defined in line with the Floya application), in the course of 2026:
- In the centre, an information panel – equipped with a screen or a map – guides users to the various transport offers and indicates parking spaces for bicycles, scooters and scooters.
- Thanks to a QR code, passengers can directly access the Floya app and the digital services of the Mobihub network, guaranteeing clear and up-to-date information in real time.
- In the longer term, the Mobihub could offer additional services such as bicycle maintenance equipment or charging areas.
The municipality of Forest is looking for partners to continue the development of mobihubs on a regional scale.
The ambition is clear: to make Mobihubs a lever for urban transformation, capable of inventing a new way of getting around and redesigning the city around more sustainable, fluid and human solutions.
What we are looking for:
- Evaluate and share the lessons learned from our first experience
- Create partnerships with other European cities willing to share their own experiences
- Identify partners to reproduce this project in the forest region
