Municipality Seeking Partners to Develop Circular Solutions for Construction & Demolition Waste, Promote Eco-Friendly Materials and Expand Product Variety

Elitnisa Solenay

Service and Product Designer at Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality

Eskisehir, Türkiye

About

As a municipality, our aim is to increase the circular and environmentally-friendly use of construction and demolition waste (CDW) across urban areas, the construction sector, road infrastructure, public spaces, park developments, and more. We focus on reusing CDW as sustainable materials for park pathways, public spaces, building foundations, and road pavements, creating greener and more eco-conscious applications. By replacing virgin materials such as concrete and asphalt, we aim to reduce environmental impacts from material production and mining. The project also seeks to optimize the transportation and processing of CDW to lower carbon emissions, promote eco-friendly collection and handling, and enhance circular reuse practices. Additionally, the project targets the development of new technologies, process improvements, and increased product variety to improve the effectiveness and scalability of CDW reuse, supporting urban resilience, sustainability, and climate adaptation.
