About
Green in cities is key for climate adaptation, biodiversity, and human well-being. Local authorities already invest heavily in public green spaces, but pressure on these limited areas is increasing. At the same time, many “sleeping” green spaces remain in the city: vacant lots, semi-public areas, or inaccessible private gardens. Unlocking this potential, however, faces several barriers:
The focus is on developing and testing new models to activate “sleeping green” across contexts and target groups with a focus on groups that lack a safe green space (e.g. children, elder people, sick, people. The project will deliver a design guide, practical tools, and policy recommendations to enrich the urban green landscape with shared solutions.
