Berlin as a pilot ? Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing

Marie-Julie Jacquemot

EU and international affairs officer at Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing

Berlin, Germany

About

We stand for a diverse and vibrant urban development that balances social justice, climate protection and economic dynamism.

At home in Berlin is our guiding idea. It means a vibrant city, socioeconomic diversity, safe neighbourhoods, good public transport development, areas for secure jobs, sports and recreational opportunities, and climate-resilient urban redevelopment.

A central goal of our work is the creation of affordable housing in all parts of the city. We want to give people a safe place to live. That is our mission. To this end, we plan and develop new urban neighbourhoods, accelerate procedures for planning, approval and construction processes, and at the same time, ensure social cohesion through tenant protection and neighbourhood management. In the city, we also design public spaces and thus bear responsibility for the quality of living and life in Berlin.
