Energy collectives as engines for inclusive and sustainable neighbourhoods

Carina Peek

Researcher and lecturer at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences

About

We intend to develop a project to learn from how energy collectives in different countries operate and contribute to sustainable and social change in the neighbourhood.

The idea is to collaborate with partners to investigate how collectives make decisions, share ownership, and shape their collaboration, and how people in more vulnerable positions can be involved in this process.

We want to collect stories and examples that show what works, which values and rituals are supportive, and how barriers can be overcome.

We are also interested in the broader impact of collectives on their environment – socially, physically and in terms of governance – and are exploring the possibility of starting a learning network.

With this project, we aim to develop knowledge and insights that will help cities and local authorities make the energy transition more inclusive and and effective for strong neighbourhoods.

We are currently looking for partners who would like to work with us to develop and realise this idea through collaboration.
