About

We are forming a consortium for a cross-topic DUT 2025 project combining elements from the 15-Minute City and Positive Energy Districts pathways. The project will explore new urban mobility and energy synergies at the edge of European cities, focusing on underused infrastructure that has untapped potential to support climate-neutral and citizen-oriented transitions.

The concept is grounded in the interplay between commuter flows, smart energy solutions, and policy innovation. It aims to test scalable approaches that improve travel behavior, support energy flexibility, and enhance accessibility — without requiring large-scale physical investments in every pilot location. The project will include technical exploration, behavioral research, and governance models to support integrated urban transitions.

As URBAN2020, we were key contributors to the funded DUT 2023 project “PROWD”, which adapts the 15mC concept to low-density urban areas. Based on this experience, we are now seeking:

  • Research and academic partners (universities, think tanks, or innovation centers)

  • Municipalities or urban authorities interested in piloting, testing, or modeling the solution (physical implementation optional)

  • NGOs and innovation intermediaries, especially with expertise in mobility, energy justice, or community engagement

We are ready to lead proposal writing and coordination efforts, leveraging our experience in DUT and Horizon Europe. However, we are also open to co-leadership arrangements, depending on the strengths and interests of the consortium and we are looking for partners that might be project coordinators during implmentation phase.
