The Region of Crete is one of the 13 Regional Authorities of Greece, responsible for regional planning, sustainable development, digital transformation, innovation and climate resilience. Through active participation in numerous EU-funded programmes and international partnerships, it promotes smart governance, evidence-based policymaking and regional cooperation. The Independent Department of Geodata and Interoperability supports these priorities by developing geospatial information systems, promoting data interoperability, open data and digital public services, and enabling data-driven decision-making across regional policies and public administration. The Department also contributes to ESG-related initiatives, climate resilience, territorial governance and the integration of geospatial intelligence into regional planning and policy implementation.
The Directorate of Digital Governance leads the digital transformation of public administration through digital public services, modern ICT infrastructures and citizen-oriented solutions.
