About
The FILO-Green-ER initiative, led by CAAB, aims to strengthen sustainability, efficiency and digitalization across the Emilia-Romagna fisheries and aquaculture supply chain by building on the work of the Regional Strategic Forum on the Blue Economy. The project will create a multi-actor stakeholder network to map supply-chain operators, identify bottlenecks, and define priority actions for decarbonization, circularity and improved logistics. A key output will be the design of a digital market and traceability platform to enhance market access for regional seafood products and byproducts, while CAAB’s Living Lab will serve as a testbed for innovation, showcasing new technologies and supporting co-creation of solutions. The initiative is expected to strengthen the regional knowledge base, guide evidence-based policymaking, and build synergies with major projects such as ECOSISTER, Food4CE, ARGOS and 3EFISHING. It will also help the sector better respond to climate-related pressures (such as heatwaves, flooding and shifting species availability) by promoting shared learning, improved data collection and preparedness. Potential obstacles include fragmented supply-chain data, uneven stakeholder engagement and limited resources, but these will be addressed through collaborative governance, targeted capacity building and integration with EU funding opportunities. The partnership will bring together CAAB, the Emilia-Romagna Region, Nomisma, CLUST-ER Agrifood, fisheries cooperatives, research bodies such as CESTHA, universities, logistics experts, fish vendors and processing companies, fostering an ecosystem capable of accelerating the digital and green transition of the regional seafood supply chain.
