ASKLEPIEIA HEALTH CLUSTER S.A. is a formally established innovation cluster dedicated to Health & Wellness Tourism, headquartered in Athens, Greece.

WHAT WE DO

We bring together a fragmented ecosystem — clinics, polyclinics and medical practices, wellness and spa facilities, and 4 / 5 hotels — into a single collaborative structure with shared digital infrastructure and a common route to international markets.

Our platform operates as a marketplace and service layer for the sector: structured provider profiles, health and wellness packages, request-and-quote workflows, CRM and teleconsultation. It gives individual SMEs an international shop window they could not build or sustain on their own.

TECHNOLOGY: CURRENT WORK

We are integrating international clinical coding systems (SNOMED CT, ICPC-3) into the marketplace, so that services and patient needs can be expressed in standardised medical terminology rather than free text — the prerequisite for any cross-border interoperability.

TECHNOLOGY: R&D DIRECTION

Our research agenda addresses a specific open problem: how to map an international visitor's health and wellness needs, expressed in everyday language and in any European language, onto standardised clinical ontologies with accuracy and traceability sufficient for safe provider matching. Alongside this, our development roadmap targets alignment with the European Health Data Space (EHDS) and the EEHRxF exchange format.

EVIDENCE BASE

The cluster has produced national-scale primary field research (2025) on Health & Wellness Tourism in Greece — structured surveys and interviews with healthcare providers and wellness operators, combining quantitative and qualitative analysis of market size, demand patterns and growth prospects. This dataset can be specialised at regional level.
