Functional Immune Profiling for Personalised Prediction of Adverse Drug Reactions of multiple medications
Tenured professor, oncology at Rīga Stradiņš University

About
We are looking to join multidisciplinary consortia developing personalised approaches to reduce adverse drug reactions associated with administration of multiple medications.
Our potential contribution is the functional validation of predicted individual drug responses using patient-derived immune cells or primary cell cultures. We can contribute an experimental layer connecting predicted risk with measurable cellular responses.
We can offer: i) patient-derived ex vivo models, ii) PBMCs and/or selected immune-cell populations exposure ex vivo to individual drugs and relevant drug combinations to investigate inter-individual differences in cellular responses, iii) high-dimensional spectral and imaging flow cytometry that provides simultaneous spectral phenotyping and cellular imaging at the single-cell level, iv) identification of rare responding populations with subsequent their sorting for further molecular characterization, v) multiplex cytokine/chemokine measurements, RNA sequencing
We would therefore complement partners with expertise in clinical pharmacology, pharmacogenomics, pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacokinetics and drug–drug interaction modelling by providing experimental and immune-phenotyping capabilities. Our particular interest is in developing functional cellular biomarkers that could complement genetic and clinical risk prediction and improve personalised assessment of adverse drug reactions.
