About
Health research and innovation are supported at the EU level to address common, large-scale health challenges. The aim is to find new ways to keep people healthy, prevent diseases, develop better diagnostics and more effective therapies, use personalized medicine approaches to improve healthcare and wellbeing, and integrate innovative health technologies, such as digital ones.
Europe is facing an ageing population and a growing burden of chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular and brain conditions.
External environmental factors, including climate change, as well as the risk to lose our ability to protect ourselves against infectious diseases, for instance due to anti-microbial resistance, are also exposing us to new risks and threats.
Biologically active supplements "NARHOLIN" and «NARARGIN» were developed by my scientific research group. The suppliments are polyfunctional probiotics with large application properties. They can be used for prophylaxis and treatment of different etiology diarrhea, have great potential as possible therapy for reducing total cholesterol and glucose in the blood. Can be used in hypercholesterolemia control and prevention of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) type 2 diabetes, dysbacteriosis, restoring and preserving the balance of the intestinal microflora during antibiotic treatment. Endemic lactic acid bacteria included in the "NARHOLIN" supplement shown, bile salt hydrolase (BSH) activity, brings to formation of taurine and glycine - important amino acids for human health, produced arginine, bacteriocins and extracellular exopolysaccharides (EPS)) with bactericidal activity against pathogenic bacteria. «NARARGIN» is used for prophylaxis of type 2 diabetes, dysbacteriosis, restoring and preserving the balance of the intestinal microflora during antibiotic treatment.
For the upcoming Horizon Europe Cluster 1: Health (health throughout the life course; environmental and social health determinants; infectious diseases) calls, we are particularly interested in collaborations around:
a) HORIZON-HLTH-2026-01-DISEASE-09: Multi-sectoral approach to tackle chronic non-communicable diseases: implementation research maximizing collaboration and coordination with sectors and in settings beyond the healthcare system (GACD)
b) HORIZON-HLTH-2027-02-DISEASE-01-two-stage: Innovative healthcare interventions for non-communicable diseases.
c) HORIZON-HLTH-2027-01-DISEASE-08: Development of innovative antimicrobials against pathogens resistant to antimicrobials
d) HORIZON-HLTH-2027-01-DISEASE-10: Prevention and management of chronic non-communicable diseases in children and young people (GACD)
