HLTH-2027-02-DISEASE-14: NEURO-KNOW: Unlocking Biomedical Knowledge for Innovative Neurodegenerative Disease Interventions
Executive Director at Pharmatics
Edinburgh, United Kingdom
About
Our project will bring together biomedical researchers, clinicians, AI developers, technology innovators, and patient organisations to accelerate the development and personalisation of innovative therapeutic and complementary interventions for neurodegenerative diseases.
A distinctive feature is the knowledge-driven MedAI approach, which transforms biomedical literature into harmonised, locally executable models by automatically extracting quantitative evidence on disease mechanisms, biomarkers, therapeutic targets, treatment effects and complementary interventions, without requiring centralised access to patient-level data. This will support the identification of promising therapeutic combinations, interpretation of treatment responses, patient stratification, and personalised interventions. MedAI-derived models will also support prognostic and predictive enrichment of clinical studies, identifying rapid progressors and likely treatment responders, together will trial analysis through prognostic covariate adjustment approaches.
Our project will complement clinical studies, digital monitoring, and rehabilitation, supporting the evaluation of safety, efficacy, mechanisms of action, and long-term outcomes.
