Clinical expert in oncologic imaging for frontier AI in healthcare (TOOL-08): radiology use cases, multimodal data and trustworthy evaluation
Radiologist, MD, PhD at Lithuanian university of health sciences
Kaunas, Lithuania
About
Target topic: HORIZON-HLTH-2027-03-TOOL-08 – Towards the next generation of frontier AI models for healthcare (CSA).
Who I am
Radiologist (MD, PhD) and assistant lecturer at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU), working at Hospital of LSMU Kauno klinikos – the largest university hospital in the Baltic States. My PhD focused on early detection of clinically significant prostate cancer using multiparametric MRI, genetic urinary biomarkers and risk calculators.
What I can contribute
-
Clinical use cases for the roadmap: cancer early detection and risk-based screening as a concrete example of where multimodal frontier AI could change clinical decisions (e.g. reducing unnecessary biopsies and overdiagnosis).
-
Multimodal data expertise: practical experience with linked imaging (mpMRI, PI-RADS v2.1 structured reporting), molecular (urinary biomarkers), clinical and histopathology data in an ongoing prospective cohort (~300 patients) – including what makes such data usable, representative and interoperable.
-
Clinical evaluation and risk perspective: experience in prospective diagnostic accuracy studies; input on clinically meaningful endpoints, safety and efficacy evidence, failure modes and trustworthiness criteria for AI in imaging.
-
Clinician engagement: perspective of a practising radiologist and teacher of medical students, and links to the European radiology community (ESR, ESUR, RSNA).
-
Representation of the Baltic region / widening countries in a pan-European AI-for-health community.
Possible role
Clinical expert partner contributing to roadmap work packages (use cases, clinical requirements, evaluation criteria), dataset assessment and stakeholder/community activities.
What I am looking for
Coordinators and consortia preparing a TOOL-08 CSA who need clinical domain expertise in imaging and oncology.
Keywords: frontier AI, foundation models, multimodal health data, medical imaging, radiology, oncology, cancer screening, trustworthy AI, AI Act, EHDS, clinical evaluation
