About
Paras Biopharmaceuticals Finland Oy : Microbial Biologics Development and Scale-up
Paras Biopharmaceuticals Finland Oy is a Finnish biopharmaceutical company specialising in microbial recombinant protein development, process optimisation and scale-up. We work with biotechnology companies, research organisations and development teams to address technical challenges in the production of recombinant proteins and biologics.
Our expertise and capabilities
Microbial expression systems
· Recombinant protein expression using E. coli and yeast systems, including Pichia pastoris and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, with experience in other fungal expression systems.
· Development of non-glycosylated recombinant proteins and difficult-to-express proteins.
Recombinant protein formats
· Nanobodies, diabodies and domain antibodies.
· scFv fusion proteins and Fc-fusion proteins, including non-glycosylated formats.
· Interleukins and other recombinant therapeutic proteins.
· Long peptides and complex proteins requiring specialised expression, folding or solubility optimisation.
Process development and scale-up
· Upstream process development, fermentation and expression optimisation.
· Protein folding and refolding, solubility improvement and aggregation control.
· Downstream process development and purification.
· Analytical characterisation, protein quality assessment and comparability studies.
· Fermentation capacities of 20 L, 150 L and 750 L to support process development and scale-up.
Potential contribution to Horizon Europe Health projects
We are interested in contributing our technical expertise to collaborative projects where microbial recombinant protein production can support the project's objectives. Depending on the project requirements, our contribution may include developing and optimising microbial expression processes, improving protein yield and quality, addressing folding and solubility challenges, developing purification processes, characterising recombinant products and supporting process scale-up.
Our capabilities may be relevant to projects involving therapeutic proteins, antibody fragments, non-glycosylated biologics and selected protein-based diagnostic or research applications. We are particularly interested in projects where our expertise can address a defined technical need and contribute to the development of a promising biological product.
Collaboration sought
Paras welcomes contact from Horizon Europe project coordinators, research institutions, biotechnology companies and proposal-development consultants preparing Health Cluster proposals. We are looking to join consortia as a technical partner, contributing specific expertise in microbial recombinant protein development, process optimisation, purification, analytical characterisation and fermentation scale-up.
If your project requires these capabilities, we would welcome a discussion about how Paras could contribute to the proposed work plan.
