About

Bukovinian State Medical University (BSMU) is a modern multidisciplinary higher education establishment with the ideology of advanced innovative development based on harmonious and partnership relations between employees, students and society. BSMU included into the general register of the WHO, Magna Charta Universitatum (Bologna, Italy), European University Association (EUA), Association of the Carpathian Region Universities.

Over the years of its existence (1944-2025) the University has trained more than 35 000 specialists including the following specialties: Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Pediatrics, Medical Psychology, Clinical Pharmacy.

BSMU includes:

  • 4 faculties (Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine and Psychology, Faculty of Dentistry)

  • Educational-scientific institute of post-graduate education;

  • 48 departments;

  • Center of simulation medicine and innovation technologies;

  • Educational  Pharmacy,

  • College ensuring training of medical and pharmaceutical professional junior bachelors.

 Directions of training and specialties

The University provides a continuity of higher medical education:

Professional  Junior Bachelor → Bachelor → Master → Post Graduate Education → Doctor (PhD).

The University trains applicants for higher education on the following specialties:

  • Medicine (Doctor of Philosophy, Master);

  • Pediatrics (Doctor of Philosophy)

  • Dentistry  (Doctor of Philosophy, Master);

  • Medical Psychology (Master);

  • Therapy and rehabilitation (Bachelor)

  • Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy (Master, Professional  junior bachelor);

  • Nursing (Doctor of Philosophy, Master, Bachelor, professional junior bachelor)

The main development strategy of BSMU is strengthening the capacity of the academic staff, development of university clinical and training centres to provide high-quality training at the undergraduate and postgraduate level and generation of competitive on the labour market health care professionals. 

BSMU has RCP Program EU "Horizon 2020" in the field "Health, demographic changes and wellbeing" in 2016-2021. In 2019, BSMU was awarded by National Erasmus office of Ukraine as the Leader among Ukrainian Medical Universities.
