Climate change & infectious diseases: building a One Health consortium

Scientist at Sciensano

Brussels, Belgium

About

We are interested in establishing project cooperation under HORIZON-HLTH-2026-01-ENVHLTH-01, focusing on improving the understanding and anticipation of climate-related infectious disease risks. The project will address how climate change influences pathogen dynamics, transmission patterns, host and vector interactions, and health outcomes, while accounting for vulnerability, inequalities, and resilience across populations and regions.

We aim to contribute expertise in infectious diseases, One Health and genomics, building on experience from previous EU collaborative projects. We are looking to collaborate with partners bringing complementary strengths, including climate and environmental sciences, epidemiology, modelling and forecasting, diagnostics, public health practice, and social sciences. International cooperation, access to field or longitudinal data, and policy-oriented perspectives are particularly welcome.

The goal is to form a strong, multidisciplinary consortium capable of generating robust evidence, advancing methodologies, and supporting preparedness, surveillance, and adaptation strategies for climate-driven infectious diseases in Europe and beyond.
