Loyola University - Multidisciplinary Research in Health

R&D Management at Fundación Universidad Loyola Andalucía

Dos Hermanas, Sevilla, Spain

About

Loyola University defines itself as a Research University committed to research excellence and social impact, with a strong focus on mental health and well-being from a biopsychosocial perspective. Our scientific portfolio in health integrates multiple disciplines—psychology, engineering, biomedicine and quantitative methods—to address the challenges of Cluster 1: Health.

Our main areas of expertise include:

  • Mental Health and Well-being: Development of evidence-based interventions for the prevention and treatment of mental disorders, with a particular focus on perinatal health, childhood, adolescence and ageing.

  • Health Systems and Social Care Policies: Analysis of health ecosystems using decision-support tools, service mapping and technical efficiency assessment (e.g. DESDE-LTC tools and Mental Health Atlases).

  • Neuroscience and Neurorehabilitation (NEUROCAP): Research on physiological markers (EEG, neuroimaging), development of non-invasive medical devices and neurostimulation techniques for acquired brain injury and neurodegenerative diseases.

  • Digital Health (mHealth): Implementation of ICT-based interventions to promote healthy lifestyles and prevent non-communicable diseases.

  • Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Research: Study of molecular mechanisms, biomarker validation and drug development targeting antibiotic resistance and cardiovascular diseases.

  • Exercise and Health (RESHAP / IM-PEPH): Optimisation of physical performance and injury prevention, as well as the development of exercise programmes for populations with specific pathologies.

  • The Loyola Health Policy Institute develops decision-support tools based on an ecosystem-based approach and expert-informed evidence to improve the accessibility, equity and quality of public health systems.

Our research is characterised by a strong translational approach, ensuring that scientific advances are effectively transferred to clinical practice and the business sector.

We are seeking collaboration in:

  • DESTINATION 1: Behavioural interventions and mental health promotion.

  • DESTINATION 2: Decision-support systems.

  • DESTINATION 3: Research on chronic diseases and the impact of digital technologies.

  • DESTINATION 4: Improving planning and management of health services.

  • DESTINATION 5/6: Development of patient-centred digital tools and technologies.
