About
CIB Margarita Salas (CSIC) offers multidisciplinary excellence across molecular biosciences, biomedicine and microbial‑plant biotechnology, providing high‑impact capabilities for Horizon Europe Cluster 1 Health collaborations. Our groups bring cutting‑edge expertise in infection biology, host–pathogen interactions, immunology, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), vaccine and antibody development, and advanced platforms relevant to pandemic preparedness. We contribute strong competencies in NAMs, organoids, advanced imaging, gene editing, multi‑omics, and computational approaches for disease modelling.
We also provide deep expertise in neurodegenerative disorders, mitochondrial dysfunction, rare diseases, cardiovascular biology, tumour progression, chemoresistance and metastasis, enabling innovative strategies in precision medicine, drug repurposing and target discovery. Our biotechnology programmes advance synthetic biology, microbial engineering, biosensing, biodegradation, and microbial systems relevant to biosecurity and health monitoring.
With highly complementary departments and state‑of‑the‑art technologies, the CIB is an exceptional partner for 2026–2027 Health WP topics, offering a robust translational ecosystem capable of accelerating breakthroughs in infectious disease control, AMR, advanced therapies, diagnostics, NAMs, personalised medicine, and high‑impact biomedical innovation.
