Socioeconomic impact modelling and policy foresight for ENVHLTH projects
Professor at Nagasaki University, Japan
Nagasaki, Japan
About
This project cooperation opportunity focuses on strengthening the policy relevance and impact of ENVHLTH proposals through robust socioeconomic impact modelling and policy foresight. Drawing on extensive experience at the science–policy interface, the contribution aims to support consortia in translating complex evidence on climate, environmental and demographic health risks into actionable insights for decision-makers.
The work is designed as a dedicated or co-led work package covering socioeconomic impact modelling, long-term projections and scenario-based policy analysis. It integrates environmental exposures, population dynamics and health outcomes to assess distributional and equity impacts across population groups, with a clear focus on policy uptake rather than purely academic outputs.
The lead contributor brings long-standing experience in policy-oriented modelling, interdisciplinary research and international collaboration in global and planetary health, including work with governments and international organisations. This background supports a strong understanding of how modelling results are interpreted, communicated and used in real policy processes.
Key deliverables typically include: (i) an integrated socioeconomic impact model quantifying health and economic burdens under different environmental and climate scenarios; and (ii) policy-relevant scenarios and decision-support outputs outlining trade-offs, equity implications and policy options for health-promoting environments.
This cooperation is particularly suited to consortia seeking to strengthen their Impact and Implementation sections, ensure coherence across scientific work packages, and provide a clear and credible pathway from research results to policy action. The role can be structured as WP leader or co-lead, in close collaboration with European coordinators and partners.
