About
We are developing a proposal under HORIZON-HLTH-2026-01-CARE-03 – Identifying and addressing low-value care in health and care systems. The project focuses on reducing low-value care by tackling an often-overlooked upstream driver: patients’ misunderstanding of laboratory test results, which frequently leads to anxiety-driven contacts, unnecessary follow-up visits, and avoidable testing.
The project proposes a non-diagnostic, AI-supported digital approach that improves how laboratory results are communicated to patients in plain language. It does not provide diagnoses or treatment recommendations and does not interfere with clinical decision-making. Instead, it supports health literacy, expectation management, and more appropriate use of care, fully aligned with the CARE-03 focus on organisational, behavioural, and system-level interventions.
Existing expertise already involved includes:
-
Clinical and organisational experience, with insight into laboratory medicine, patient pathways, and hospital workflows
-
Digital health and AI-supported communication solutions
-
Health literacy, patient–clinician communication, and behavioural drivers of care use
-
Horizon Europe project development and consortium building
We are currently looking for partners and a potential coordinator, in particular:
-
Universities or academic medical centres (scientific leadership, research design, coordination)
-
Health services / health systems researchers (low-value care, evaluation, outcomes)
-
Healthcare providers and pilot sites (primary care, hospitals, integrated care)
-
Experts in data governance, ethics, and digital health regulation
-
Organisations with experience coordinating Horizon Europe Cluster 1 – Health projects
Interested organisations are welcome to get in touch for an initial exchange to explore alignment, roles, and next steps.
