Immune-Integrated Vascularized Heart-on-a-Chip Platforms for Human Cardiac Remodeling and Inflammation (Expandable Multi-Organ MPS)
Assistant professor at Technion - Israel Institute of Technology at Technion Israel Institute of Technology

About
We develop iPSC-based immune-integrated vascularized heart-on-a-chip (HoC) platforms to study inflammation-driven cardiac remodeling and endothelial dysfunction in a fully human, microphysiological setting. Our systems combine perfusable microvascular networks with functional engineered iPSC-derived cardiac tissue and controlled incorporation of immune cells, with an emphasis on macrophage-driven immune–vascular regulation and immune remodeling.
The technology enables mechanistic interrogation of cardiac immune remodeling, vascular integrity, inflammatory signaling, tissue function, and treatment response under well-defined microenvironmental cues. Importantly, the platform is designed to support donor-specific and disease-specific iPSC lines, enabling precision and personalized disease modeling.
The platform is modular and scalable, allowing future integration of additional iPSC-based tissue compartments, including placenta and other organ modules, to study multi-organ coupling when relevant to the Horizon Europe topic.
Our expertise includes microfluidic organ-on-chip engineering, iPSC-based tissue engineering, vascular network formation, multi-cell co-culture (iPSC-cardiomyocytes, endothelial cells, stromal cells, immune components), advanced imaging, and quantitative functional readouts (perfusion, barrier function, viability, inflammation), together with mechanistic studies linking immune cell states to vascular and cardiac outcomes.
