Advancing Trustworthy AI in Healthcare
European Project Manager at Fundació TIC Salut Social
Barcelona, Spain
About
-
SUMMARY: Our initiative addresses a key barrier to the adoption of AI in healthcare and social care: the lack of unified, practical frameworks to assess trustworthiness, safety, fairness, and regulatory compliance. Building on the work of the Fundació TIC Salut i Social (FTSS), we propose a multi-dimensional evaluation framework combining technical, clinical, and ethical criteria aligned with the AI Act and MDR. The approach includes operational tools, practical methodologies, and validation pilots in real-world health and social-care settings, supported by strong public–private collaboration. The goal is to enable scalable, people-centred, and trustworthy AI deployment across European health ecosystems, while increasing AI literacy among professionals and strengthening patient trust.
-
Details of type and role of partner(s) sought: We seek public and private partners to co-create, test, and validate trustworthy AI solutions. This includes:
- AI/tech developers and SMEs (XAI, bias/fairness, robustness tools)
- Healthcare and social-care providers for real-world pilots
- Regulatory/legal experts to align with the AI Act and MDR. -
Brief outline of your previous experience in EU R&D&I projects:
FTSS has extensive experience in EU R&D&I projects supporting the digital transformation of public health and social care systems. We have contributed to initiatives such as INCISIVE, SEARCH, COMFORTage, FUTURE-AI and Label2Enable, focusing on trustworthy and explainable AI, digital assets evaluation, interoperability, and real-world validation, leveraging strong links with public healthcare ecosystems.
