Smart Medical Imaging Platform (SDI-to-MIPI, AI‑Ready Endoscopy Video)
R&I manager at AORT SAGLIK HIZMETLERI

About
Opportunity type: Partner search for Eurostars / Horizon Europe Health consortia
Organisation: AORT – medtech SME (founded 1999 in Türkiye; operating entity in Germany) specialised in endoscopy imaging software and an ecosystem of endoscopy-related devices (washers/disinfectors, storage/drying cabinets, leak testers and imaging/archive systems), supporting care for 10M+ patients/year.
Project concept (working title): Smart Medical Imaging Platform – SDI-to-MIPI Bridge for Real-Time Medical Video Capture
Most professional medical cameras in endoscopy and minimally invasive surgery output SDI (HD‑SDI / 3G‑SDI). Capturing and processing SDI video in real time still relies on costly, non-customisable hardware. We aim to develop and validate a cost-effective, medical-grade, OEM-friendly platform bridging SDI cameras with modern embedded processors.
Core innovation / planned solution
-
FPGA-based SDI → MIPI CSI‑2 bridge (auto-detection of SDI formats, colour space conversion, CSI‑2 packetisation).
-
Embedded Linux platform (i.MX6) for real-time HD capture with low latency, hardware-accelerated H.264/H.265 encoding (V4L2/GStreamer), and a Qt/QML touch UI for recording, snapshot capture, and procedure documentation.
-
Medical-grade design orientation (EN/IEC 60601 EMC/EMI considerations), designed to be integrated as a standalone recorder or as an OEM imaging module.
-
Path to AI-ready and connected workflows (integration with device logs, traceability, and future decision-support modules).
Target use cases
Endoscopy/colonoscopy imaging, surgical video capture & archiving, sterilisation validation/documentation, medical device test & calibration stations.
Partners sought
-
R&D / academic groups: FPGA/high-speed video, embedded Linux video pipelines, medical imaging algorithms, (optional) explainable AI/edge analytics, validation methodologies.
-
Medical device manufacturers (OEMs): co-design requirements, integration into products, industrialisation feedback.
-
Clinical partners (hospitals/clinics): pilot evaluation, usability/workflow validation, clinical requirements.
What AORT offers
Industrial product development capacity, medical imaging and endoscopy domain expertise, hardware/software prototyping, and a clear path towards commercialisation and OEM partnerships.
