Z-Anatomy: a Collaborative, Open-Source 3D Atlas of Anatomy
2D/3D graphic designer specializing in human and veterinary anatomy at Z-Anatomy
Montpellier, France
About
Z-Anatomy is developing open-source 3D anatomy atlases (CC-BY-SA 4.0) for human and veterinary education. We’re launching a crowdfunding campaign to:
-
Hire a Unity developer (full- or part-time) to refine our interactive app (performance, UX, educational features).
-
Create new models (e.g., female anatomy, livestock species) using validated scientific data.
-
Sustain long-term growth through community-driven development.
Participatory Model:
-
Shared Funding: Universities, museums, and institutions co-fund model development, gaining priority support and custom requests.
-
Collaborative Review: Contributors (educators, researchers, students) help validate and improve models and tools.
-
Cost-Sharing: Development costs are distributed among partners, reducing individual financial burden.
What We Offer:
✅ Ready-to-use 3D models (human, cat, etc.) for education/research.
✅ Open-source workflows (Blender/Unity) for collaborative development.
✅ Study & revision app with adaptive features (quizzes, phylogenetic comparisons).
✅ Visibility & recognition for partners (credits, early access, co-branding).
What We Need:
💰 Financial contributions (crowdfunding/partnerships) for developer salaries (~€30-50K/year) and model creation.
🔬 Scientific data: CT scans (universities, hospitals, museums) to expand our library.
💻 Technical expertise: Unity/Blender support or training.
🎓 Scientific validation: Academic partnerships to ensure accuracy.
Why Support Us?
🔹 Direct impact: Fund a tangible project with measurable outcomes (new models, features, updates).
🔹 Priority access: Contributors receive dedicated support and influence future developments.
🔹 Transparency & scalability: Open-source core with partner-driven enhancements.
Next Steps:
If your institution (university, museum, foundation) is interested in this participatory model, let’s discuss collaboration terms. We’ll tailor benefits to your needs (e.g., co-branded tools, exclusive early access).
