Sensory-Responsive Lighting in Educational Settings / Near-Infrared Light in Built Environments / Non-visual effects of light on neurodivergent populations

Assistant Prof. at Bilkent University

Ankara, Türkiye

About

Seeking international partners for collaborative research and implementation projects at the intersection of lighting science, neuroscience, education, health, and neurodiversity. Our initiative focuses on the overlooked potential of near-infrared (NIR) light as a non-visual environmental input with measurable effects on cognition, physiological regulation, and sensory functioning—particularly in autistic learners. Through the project, we aim at developing evidence-based, scalable lighting strategies that integrate NIR into everyday built environments to support attention, emotional regulation, comfort, and overall well-being in neurodivergent students.
