Hydrogen enthusiast with 9 years of experience in R&D project management, holding BSc. and MSc. in Chemical Engineering, PhD candidate in Composite Materials
Floteks was established in 1978 to apply flocking on plastic parts. In 1983 Floteks became the first company to manufacture plastic parts using rotational molding in Turkey. Today Floteks is a pioneer in rotational molding and has international recognition among the companies using the technology. Floteks exports technology to foreign companies by making license agreements.
Floteks is competent in product design, product development, engineering analysis, material and product testing for commercial vehicles, tractors and construction machines. Floteks is an integrated plant with product and mold design, mold production, powder preparation, part production with rotational molding, assembly, testing and quality control processes. It has ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, AS 9100 certificates. Customer satisfaction is one of our most important values.
Floteks has gained the ability to do R&D with TÜBİTAK and EU projects it has carried out so far, and an in-house R&D culture and structuring has been established. Tübitak has determined Floteks as the most successful small and medium enterprise in Turkey, based on funds received from 2020 projects.
Floteks’s automotive industry product range is very wide. Diesel fuel tanks, AdBlue (Urea) tanks, expansion tanks, fenders, bus cabinets, air ducts, tractor ceilings, interior trim parts, wiper water tanks, hydraulic oil tanks are our main product groups.
Floteks, which has been producing rotomolded technical plastic parts for the heavy commercial vehicle industry for years, has been developing composite high pressure vessels for the last 3 years. Floteks stands out in the automotive, aerospace and space industries with its cutting edge technology solutions that enable the storage and transportation of compressed hydrogen and compressed natural gas from 200 bar pressure to 700 bar service pressure.
Preparing to manufacture composite high-pressure vessels in-house, Floteks is accelerating its investments to be able to perform high-pressure hydrostatic and pneumatic vessel tests for the design verification and R&D initiatives to provide light-wegiht and high-strength and high-performance composite pressure vessels.
Gaye Kanaltı Baş graduated from Izmir Institute of Technology with degrees in Chemical Engineering BSc and MSc and completed her Master in Business Administration at Istanbul University. Currently she is a PhD candidate in Polymer and Composite Engineering at Uludag University.
During her Master’s program in Chemical Engineering, she worked on the synthesis, characterization and evaluation of different polymeric materials, i.e., metal organic frameworks to be used as adsorbent for the purification of hydrogen gas from methane reformer off-gas. Followed completion of Master’s degree, Gaye worked in the automotive industry to pursue new solutions, technologies and systems that create a sustainable route map for the future of the mobility. Throughout her profession, starting as a R&D Engineer and later as a R&D Manager for OEM supplier companies, she has been involved in research and development studies on novel engineered materials, constructions, processes and systems driven by global OEMs, such as VW Group (Germany, China and Mexico), Daimler, Renault, Ford, Scania, FCA and Volvo.
She has experience on processes such as extrusion of monolayer and multilayer (hybrid) elastomers, engineered thermoplastics and thermoplastic elastomers, injection molding and rotational molding, wet filament winding as well as post-processes such as vulcanization, thermoforming, welding and assembly.
She is very enthusiastic to apply her profession in advanced materials and processes to contribute to revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world.
