NNLE The Elizbar Eristavi Energy Training Center (hereinafter referred to as the “Training Center”) was established on February 4, 2022. The Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) is the founder of the Training Center. (www.entc.eng) G O A L Raising public awareness on current issues in the electricity, natural gas, and water supply sectors; implementing special training courses/programs for the professional development and qualification enhancement of employees and other stakeholders in these sectors; • Determination of priority directions of activities, exchange of experience and knowledge among stakeholders, conducting fundamental research, preparation of scientific-educational projects, organization of research, creation of information base and arrangement of thematic conferences. In 2024, the Center received the Energy Globe Award for its UNICEF-supported project “Raising Awareness of Students and Youth in the Regions about Drinking Water Quality and Water Resources” (https://www.energyglobe.info/national/winner/georgia ) Over the past three years, more than 3,000 individuals have participated in its projects. In 2024, with the support of the International Visegrad Fund, the Center implemented the project “Sharing the Experience of the Visegrad Countries on the Regulation of Utility Services” (https://v4share.com/en), which shared Polish, Czech, and Slovak regulatory experience and strengthened Georgian stakeholder capacities. Recent projects include: • Awareness assessment in the electricity, gas, and water sectors (Friedrich Ebert Foundation); • Water, Environment and Health for Adolescents (UNICEF – Batumi, Rustavi, Kutaisi, Poti); • The Role of Renewable Energy in Climate and Air Pollution Issues (UNICEF – Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Ozurgeti); • The Path of Electricity from Production to Consumption (Telavi, Kvareli); • Drinking Water Quality Awareness (UNICEF); • Research on Energy Sector Security (in partnership with TSU, funded by the Shota Rustaveli Foundation).
