Drochaid has the expertise and abilities in catalyst synthesis testing and characterisation with particular experience in renewable fuels and CO2 utilisation
David Brown is a research scientist with over 25 years’ industrial experience working for Drochaid Research Services, Sasol, Pozzani Pure Water and Hitachi. During this time he has built a substantial amount of experience in a number of fields including material preparation and characterisation, a wider knowledge of the petrochemicals industry and the management of research projects in Europe with both industrial and academic partners (this underpinned by an Open University Business School, Professional Certificate in Management).
He has demonstrated the ability to work across a range of chemistry/catalysis involving the synthesis, characterisation and testing of both homogeneous and heterogeneous systems. Experience in establishing and building collaborations with industrial partners, one example involved the screening of a wide range of materials for catalytic transformations to support the company in the expansion in the range and scope of the product portfolio. With the same business he investigated the commercial production of new materials in order to provide a comprehensive list of critical operating parameters and operational windows for a new production facility.
Following a Chemistry Degree from the University of Edinburgh, a PhD from the University of Cambridge in organometallic chemistry (as the holder of an ICI research studentship) he began his industrial career as a Teaching Company associate with Pozzani Pure Water on scale inhibition devices where he discovered the mechanism whereby scale formation was inhibited and produced a improved device based on the findings. He moved to Sasol Technology UK followed by Sasol UK and more recently to Drochaid Research Services.
