My organisation

The Department of Industrial Chemistry "Toso Montanari" carries out the functions related to scientific research and training activities in the chemical field, aiming to represent the natural link between academic and industrial research, with the strategic objective of strengthening research interdisciplinary to respond more adequately to the needs of society and the labour market, as well as to provide an incisive contribution to the cultural training and professional preparation of students, mainly but not exclusively, of the study courses in which the Department operates. The mission of the Department is to develop academic research in the chemical field, also aimed at training professionals for social and industrial world.

About me

Development of chemical processes, catalytic technologies and materials for the transformation of renewable resources, hydrogen and energy vectors production and utilization and carbon dioxide conversion:

·        Catalyst synthesis engineering to tune the final properties of the materials.

·        H2 production by steam reforming, oxy-reforming and tri-reforming of methane or biogas or gas obtained by biomass gasification.

·        H2 production by aqueous phase reforming of biomass-derived feedstocks

·        CO2 or biogas conversion to methane

·        Investigation of layered double hydroxides for CO2 capture and/or conversion

·        Development of catalysts for electrolysis, CO2 electroreduction or third generation solar panels (DSSC)

·        Hydrogen production by photo-reforming of biomass derived feedstocks

·        Production and valorisation of wastes for energetic applications

·        Combination of catalytic processes with hydrogen-selective membrane reactors

·        Ceria-based materials for thermochemical water splitting
