CM2026-02: Grid code for adjustable loads

Gerald Franzl

senior researcher at University for Continuing Education Krems - Department for Integrated Sensor Systems

Wiener Neustadt, Austria

About

You may of course ask for what this grid code could be used in an energy system where the power generation strictly follows consumption (which applies for both electricity and heat).

  1. To adjust the load to the intermittent availability of wind and PV.

  2. To enable consumption beyond the static grid access limit when this is perfectly possible (e.g., to mitigate over-voltage).

  3. To limit the impact of BESS and other smart loads on the supply voltage if these respond simultaneously to dynamic electricity prices.

However, such an attempt definitely needs the integration of grid operator representatives, e.g., national members of the E.DSO [https://www.edsoforsmartgrids.eu/] .
