CM2024-02: Industrial energy system flexibility to balance the power grid
About
Industries have several advantages of using batteries to balance the grid, avoid peak hour consumtion and enabling charging of electric vehicles. The industrial energy systems could be more integrated with the power grid and the elctricity producers to enable a better communication between electricity users and producers. In this context, digitalisation and standardisation are important to enable automatisation and innovative system flexibility solutions.
I have contacts with interested industry representatives in Sweden, for example sawmills. Additional income for the industry could be using batteries and demand/response (flexible industrial production) for ancillary services.
