Evaluating in-ground leak detection systems for hydrogen pipelines

Brian Wagg

Director, Business Development at C-FER Technologies (1999) Inc.

Edmonton, Canada

About

Join an ongoing joint industry project that is testing the ability of various external leak detection technologies for underground pipeline carrying blends of hydrogen and natural gas. Tests are conducted in a 42 m3 soil tank with a 60 cm diameter test pipe with independently controlled leak ports. Side-by-side comparisons of leak detection technologies are conducted to determine sensitivity to blend ratio, leak rate, sensor position and soil type.
