Sustainable composites, natural flax & hemp fibres, and bio-vitrimers
About
Research interests:
• VARTM manufactures thermosetting composites for applications in wind turbine blades, aerospace, automotive, and marine sectors.
• Liquid moulding of thermoplastic composites using in-situ polymerisation techniques (glass, carbon, basalt, and natural fibres).
• Manufacturing advanced thermoplastic composites using automated tape placement.
• Manufacturing durable thermosetting composites by incorporating waste materials, thermoplastic particle toughening, interlayer veils, and nanoparticles.
• Polymer composite materials and characterisation techniques of hydrogen vessels type IV and type V (Linerless).
• Biocomposites and biopolymers (Sustainable composites, natural flax & hemp fibres, and bio-vitrimers ).
• 3D printing and shape memory of polymer composites, liquid and filament-based 3D printers.
• Fibre/matrix interfacial adhesion.
• Recycled fibre-based composites.
