About
The SMc (Structures and Materials for Civil Engineering) laboratory at Université Gustave Eiffel is dedicated to the experimental and numerical analysis of structural systems and civil engineering materials. It features exceptional full-scale testing facilities, including a 20 MN reaction wall, large environmental chambers, servo-hydraulic actuators, and multi-axial loading systems. These allow quasi-static and dynamic testing of large components and structures under real-world conditions. The lab is also equipped for material characterization, fatigue, creep, and corrosion testing, supporting research in durability and innovation. SMc has contributed to major national and EU projects in transport infrastructure, offshore structures, and energy transition technologies.
