About

Dr. Sylvester Sahayaraj  is a member of Ł-KIT Energy Technologies laboratory and has been working with thin film solar cells since 2013. He  has extensive knowledge on device physics and experience in device fabrication. He has worked with different types of thin film solar cell materials and architectures. He has participated in five different (EU and Polish combined) scientific projects dedicated to the development of Perovskite and Kesterite solar cells. Below, a detailed breakdown of his expertise and experience is provided:

  • (2022-2024) Worked as Chief Process Technologist at CBRTP Krakow: Metal oxide films for electron and hole transport layers for inorganic perovskite solar cells by Atomic layer deposition.

  • (2018-2022)Worked as Post-doctoral researcher on quasi two dimensional and FAPbl3 perovskite solar cells from Saule technologies, Wroclaw and IMIM Kozy, Poland.

  • As an experimenter in the field of perovskite solar cells,  I have achieved significantly high efficiencies (22% for FAPbl3 and 14.6% for quasi two dimensional ) in both topics. Succesfully upscaled Quasi two dimensional perovskite solar cells on flexible substrates (over 10% on 1cm2 PET foils) by inkjet printing which was a novelty back then.

  • (2013-2018) PhD from KU Leuven and IMEC, Belgium for my work on Cu2Zn(Sn,Ge)Se4 solar cells. I have published very important findings on this material.

  • Successfully demonstrated Ge substituted Kesterite thin film solar cells with a record low Voc deficit.
