Collaboration in hydrogen technology projects - we offer know-how and R&D capabilities in electrolysis and hydrogen storage
About
At Fraunhofer IFAM, we have extensive knowledge and expertise in the field of water electrolysis and hydrogen storage & compression. We are well connected to industry and science partners and have a strong track record in leading and supporting R&D projects. We are interested in joining consortia in CM2025-05 as partner, coordinator or subcontractor.
We can help with the development and characterisation of innovative materials, manufacturing technologies and system components for
-
electrolysis: catalysts, electrodes, coating technologies and cell designs for alkaline electrolysis and anion-exchange membrane electrolysis
-
storage & compression: solid hydrogen carriers (metal hydrides) from materials to complete storage systems; hydrogen getter devices; thermochemical hydrogen compressors; level sensors
-
powerpaste: synthesis of hydrogen-storing pastes; devices for the on-demand generation of hydrogen by means of hydrolysis reactions; fuel cell power systems
For our research and testing activities, Fraunhofer IFAM has around 2,500 square metres of laboratory and office space at the highest technical level and state-of-the-art equipment, including modern electrochemical facilities for testing electrodes, cell and stack setups, a 350-bar hydrogen lab, and numerous analytical methods.
