Artificial Intelligence Methods Lab (AIML)
About
Artificial Intelligence Methods Lab (AIML) is a method-centric research lab at Vilnius University’s Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics (Institute of Computer Science). AIML develops trust-by-design AI methods—reliable, transparent and reproducible—aligned with Europe’s ethical and regulatory direction. Our core pillars are Explainable AI (XAI), multimodal AI (e.g., vision–language/speech), and agentic / agent-based AI methods. We combine fundamental ML research with evaluation-driven experimentation and real-world impact, including Earth observation monitoring. AIML leverages Vilnius University MIF high-performance computing infrastructure (0.5 PFLOPS, 50+ TB RAM, 32-GPU partition) for large-scale training, benchmarking and data-intensive research. AIML is an active partner-seeking lab for Horizon Europe consortia. We contribute to technical WPs (multimodal LLM/AI pipelines, robustness and monitoring), as well as trustworthy-AI and compliance-by-design work (risk assessment, evidence generation, alignment with EU AI regulation and ISO/IEC 42001 controls). We are open to co-development, pilots, tech transfer (incl. joint IP), and talent development through PhD/postdoc training and visiting researchers.
