About

Booster Labs has the mission to support the acceleration of DeepTech start-ups. The uniqueness of our approach consists in a “collaborative acceleration” that aims to leverage and align, based on the partnerships we have established with peer organizations at the EU level, the different forces of the innovation ecosystems to help overcome more easily the specific challenges faced by DeepTech start-ups, and in particular the access to funding and the access to markets, along with the resources needed to achieve these goals (technology infrastructures and expertise, talents, partners). In collaboration with industry partners (in particular corporates and mid-caps), research organizations and public development agencies in France and peer European ecosystems having common interests in working with or supporting DeepTech start-ups, we aim to create collaboration opportunities supporting the development of DeepTech start-ups. We help DeepTech start-ups accelerate their growth by aligning their development roadmaps with the needs and open innovation roadmaps of larger companies, as well as with the national and EU roadmaps on strategic sectors.

Based on the knowledge and expertise acquired by working first hand with high potential start-ups and scale-ups, we have reverse engineered the growth process and identified recurring key success factors substantially facilitating the development process and increasing start-ups’ success chances. Our services aim to cover in a holistic manner fundamental aspects for the scale-up of promising start-ups:

-        Strategy review and roadmap alignment: we check the alignment of the different dimensions of the start-up strategy, action plan and roadmaps - technical and the associated IP protection, financial and business development - and to challenge the founders on key aspects of their business. A set of personalized recommendations is elaborated by leveraging the results of the assessment with specific actions to be integrated in the start-up’s roadmap. This allows the start-up founders to test the clarity and soundness of their development strategy and roadmap, identify any potential weaknesses and flaws through an external view, and detect resources available across European Innovation Ecosystems allowing to accelerate the implementation of their roadmap.

-        Support for access to a balanced mix of non-dilutive and dilutive funding: we help start-ups review their investment readiness and access to funding strategy. By identifying the proper mix of funding sources, we aim to support the start-ups leverage funding to achieve efficiently their technology/product development and commercialization objectives, while simultaneously satisfying 2 key constraints: limiting as much as possible ownership dilution and increasing the company valuation. Through our support, the start-ups will be able to easily unlock the access to adequate funding at critical stages of their development. Getting an adequate access to funding, balanced in a proper way by leveraging grants, equity and/or debt opportunities, will facilitate the achievement of the technological and commercial milestones on the scale-up path, that will in turn easily open access to future capital/investments.

-        Demand-driven innovation for access to markets: we help start-ups overcome the market access challenges and the barriers faced to access private and private procurement opportunities. We capitalize on open innovation initiatives and aim to support the start-ups increase their market traction by incentivizing targeted customers – in particular corporates and mid-caps – to engage in piloting activities minimizing the financial and technological risks. We leverage in the process the access to public funding supporting experimental projects/piloting activities, along with opportunities to obtain support from public authorities in correlation with strategic projects corresponding to priorities of the Smart Specialization Strategy (S3). Our services aim to foster the access to market for promising start-ups by facilitating the involvement of the end-users in a co-development process improving the “product-market” fit. Start-ups get the double advantage of collaborating with their potential clients in testing and adapting the solutions they develop to their needs, while leveraging the public funding to facilitate the implementation and deployment.
