TAIES Group - HPES Lab - Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC)

The TAIES group at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) focuses on the research and development of multidisciplinary (technical - legal - philosophical) Trustworthy AI across safety-critical and high-impact domains. TAIES works on the mathematical and probabilistic foundations required for robust, explainable, and fair AI, covering areas such as uncertainty modelling, causality, counterfactual reasoning, robustness, AI governance, and ethical and legal alignment. The group’s mission is to ensure that AI-enabled systems can provide guarantees that make them reliable, transparent, and aligned with societal and regulatory expectations.

In terms of European projects, the TAIES group is actively leading and participating in multiple EU-funded initiatives, contributing technical, legal, and philosophical expertise. It also maintains industrial collaborations with international and national companies to translate Trustworthy AI research into real-world, regulated environments.
