About

BOC is a software development house and a consultant in the field of IT-supported management approaches that spun-off from University of Vienna in 1995 [1]. The main business field and its origin is Business Process Management with the toolkit ADONIS®. Today BOC also offers commercial modelling tools IT-infrastructure and IT-architecture management (ADOIT®) and a governance, risk and compliance (ADOGRC®) suite. The tools are awarded by Forrester leader quadrant and Gartner voice of the customers. Our tools are used by about 100.000 users, with a traffic of about 20.000 users per day from about 1.000 clients worldwide. The BOC network consists of nine units, operational units are located Europe, whereas the headquarters, software and research units are located in Vienna. In overall there are more than 250 employees. More than 90 partner organizations who sell BOCs software complement the business ecosystem. The research ecosystem consists of an inhouse research team performing mainly EU-projects [2]. We envision an open model-based approach, aiming to establish a management environment for process reconfiguration. Alternative process reconfiguration designs can be tested and evaluated against a set of KPIs in both a digital model and a physical laboratory environment. The most appropriate design can be implemented at factory level, where sensors capture the factory status to identify design deviations and further optimization possibilities. BOC provides a Microservice framework to integrate external services into their modelling solutions like sensors or data connectors that are integrated into our process modelling or governance tool. For research and academic purpose, BOC operates an open community platform ADOxx.org [3] with more than 5.000 developer on the meta modelling platform ADOxx – which can be used to establish the aforementioned model-based process reconfiguration management environment. The industrial OMiLAB Innovation Environment at BOC Vienna [4] can be used to test alternative reconfiguration designs with so called “physical experiments”. There is a network of about 17 OMiLAB nodes mainly in Europe, who can be addressed for dissemination an cooperation purposes.
