NAIR Center

Navarra Artificial Intelligence Research Center (NAIR Center) was established in November 2022 as a strategic initiative by the Government of Navarra to position the region at the forefront of transformative technologies. Located within the IRIS Digital Innovation Hub in Spain, the center operates as a vital link between scientific research and industrial application.

At the same time, it coordinates the Artificial Intelligence and Data Science specialization area within the Navarra Digital Innovation Hub (IRIS), ensuring a close alignment with current and future business and technological challenges.

NAIR Center contributes a differential perspective by emphasizing an ethical and sustainable approach to artificial intelligence through three core research axes: Theoretical foundations to advance basic scientific knowledge; Trustworthy AI focused on developing fair, transparent, and bias-free systems; and Technological Applications dedicated to industrial efficiency and reducing the environmental impact of intelligent systems. These area of research are strictly aligned with the S4 Smart Specialization Strategy of Navarra and European Union guidelines, offering Shenzhen a framework that balances high-level technical performance with rigorous ethical standards and social responsibility.

Also NAIR Center acts as a strategic bridge to the European research and innovation landscape through its active involvement in international networks like the Big Data Value Association (BDVA) and the ETAMI Task Force. The center is highly active in leading and submitting collaborative proposals for prestigious European programs, such as Horizon Europe, which facilitates the integration of global partners into high-level R&D initiatives.
