Minardi Piume has been working in the feather and down processing sector since 1916 focusing on ethical transformation of down (a by-product of the food industry) into high-quality padding materials, guaranteeing ‘Made in Italy’ products of impeccable quality, certified hygiene and extreme attention to detail for every application, from clothing to bedding.

It's core business is the processing and sorting of goose and duck feathers and down, with a production capacity of 12,000 kg per day.

The company is now mainly focused on identifying collaboration opportunities through partnership working on:

- applied research, experimental development and innovation (in the creation of new innovative products, processes or services).

- emerging technologies (AI, robotics, blockchain and IoT),

all mainly oriented towards the application of circular economy principles according to two main objectives:

- Recovery of raw materials (feathers and water) through separation of filling components of end-of-life items from the textile or plastic materials; recognition and selection of the different types of materials used to make envelopes and development of methodologies and techniques for water recovery currently used in the feather washing phase.

- Waste valorization (feathers, textiles and synthetics) through identification of a destination for synthetic waste materials and development of a new product from waste feathers.

Minardi Piume may be involved as

- Operational partner in projects related to circular economy research and Innovation activities, providing its expertise and infrastructure with the aim of developing and implementing innovative solutions on topics of interest, developing new products, services and/or processes.

- Pilot site, hosting and testing the innovative solutions developed as part of the collaborative project, with the aim of assessing their effectiveness and potential in the event of a scale-up.

- External stakeholder in any Panels or Advisory Boards for projects that have already been funded and that are working on its area of interest.
