Circular Edge-AI Sensing Platform for Industrial Operations

About
We are proposing an early-stage idea contribution for a larger consortium working on edge AI, industrial data, circular electronics and smart manufacturing.
The idea is to repurpose second-life smart devices as low-cost, multimodal edge nodes capable of observing manufacturing operations, learning process behaviour, and detecting early signs of instability before they become quality, maintenance or downtime issues.
Ermetal would act as the industrial idea owner and first demonstrator, providing the stamping and press-shop use case where the concept can be tested under real production conditions. The wider platform would need to be developed together with partners experienced in edge AI, secure data processing, industrial IoT, electronics reuse, sensor validation and manufacturing intelligence.
The aim is not only to monitor machines, but to investigate a new class of circular, adaptive and low-cost industrial sensing systems that can support process understanding, early anomaly detection, maintenance decisions and future factory digitalisation.
