Title XR Observatory Expertise for Virtual Worlds and Technology Adoption
Postdoc Researcher at Politecnico di Milano
Milan, Italy
About
Politecnico di Milano’s XR Observatory offers expertise in Extended Reality, virtual worlds, immersive technologies, and technology adoption across companies, institutions, and innovation ecosystems.
The Observatory systematically maps XR projects, adoption patterns, business applications, market trends, benefits, barriers, and emerging business models. Its work covers several sectors where immersive technologies are increasingly relevant, including cultural and creative industries, tourism, media, entertainment, retail, education, fashion, design, advertising, museums, audiovisual, gaming, publishing, and performing arts.
The Observatory can support Horizon Europe and Digital Europe consortia by providing evidence-based knowledge on how XR technologies are adopted, implemented, scaled, and integrated into organizational and market contexts.
While the main focus is XR, the Observatory also analyzes how Artificial Intelligence acts as an enabling layer for immersive technologies, e.g., through generative 3D content, virtual environments, avatars, personalization, synthetic media, and AI-supported creative workflows.
We can contribute to consortia through:
-
mapping of XR projects, use cases, and market trends;
-
stakeholder engagement across the Italian XR and digital innovation ecosystem;
-
identification of companies, institutions, cultural organizations, and end users for pilots;
-
classification of stakeholders by sector, digital maturity, XR readiness, and innovation capacity;
-
scouting of pilot partners, testing environments, and end-user communities;
-
support for Financial Support to Third Parties and cascade funding mechanisms;
-
analysis of XR adoption barriers and drivers;
-
assessment of business models and scalability conditions for immersive solutions;
-
market intelligence on XR, virtual worlds, and immersive innovation;
-
dissemination, exploitation, and ecosystem-building activities.
We are interested in projects requiring XR market intelligence, stakeholder engagement, pilot activation, ecosystem analysis, technology adoption assessment, business model development, and scalability evaluation.
